A Taste Of Magic

This is the OwlCrate May 2025 YA box. This box has items in it inspired by One Dark Window, Throne of Glass, Belladonna, A Discovery of Witches, and A Magic Steeped in Poison. These books have been added to my TBR if they weren't already there.

Here’s the next pin in our 2025 enamel pin collection: Enchanted Elixirs! Each month’s box will include a pin with a quote charm featuring magical elements from fantastical worlds all tucked away in a bottle—all designed by Layla Ashtar (@layla_ashtar_shrine)! Our fifth pin in the collection features A Magic Steeped in Poison, where magical tea-making may turn poisonous.

The May book, Salvación by Sandra Proudman, features magical discovery, dangerous stakes, and a fight for one's home. In Salvación, Lola spends her days as a proper young Mexican lady watching her mother cure the sick and injured with a recently discovered magical salt. At night, she is Salvación, the vigilante who protects the town from anyone who threatens their peace.

But one night, a frantic woman tells her about a different kind of salt magic, one that is more deadly and is in the hands of a threatening man. Lola must race against time to stop his plans, even if it means teaming up with Alejandro, his right-hand man and someone she gets dangerously close to.

This signed edition features a stunning redesigned cover by @pyrrhics and stenciled edges by@pyrrhics. Turn over the cover for the reversible with gorgeous artwork by @nir4z. On the hardback, we have a foil hardcover case design by @lichen_and_limestone. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous end pages done by @mmarsloud. Finally, an author letter and bonus content from Sandra Proudman have been bound into the book for subscribers!

Overall, the May 2025 YA Box, A Taste of Magic items were good. I was delighted with each of the items and the thought that was put into them. My favorite item this month was the book lamp. It's such a cute light, and I love the concept.

June's 2025 theme is A Brush With Destiny and tells the story of a young woman with a rare and dangerous gift who has always relied on her talent to survive. In a desperate attempt to save her family, she strikes a deal with a mysterious lord, where she is drawn into a world of power, deception, and dangerous magic. As she navigates the shifting tides of fate, she must decide how much of herself she is willing to sacrifice for the future she hopes to create.⁠
