This is the OwlCrate September 2023 box. This box has items in it inspired by The Whispering Dark, The Atlas Six, A Discovery of Witches, and A Lesson in Vengeance and Babel. These books have been added to my TBR if they weren't already there.

This is the theme card as well as the spoiler card on the back. I thought that the artwork was pretty but it was lacking in the creativity that I wanted. In other words, it could have given more.

This month's faux book journal is the third in the 2023 collection. Featuring in-universe referencs, each journal will be sure to transport you to a different literary universe.

This month's journal pays homage to the Alexandrian society in the Atlas Six and has been designed with love by Lichen and Limestone.

Start off the dark academia season with their corduroy bag. Designed by Yeatasmin Shiropa (@the.pearledreader), this bag will take you through the halls of Dalloway School in A Lesson in Vengeance.

Dive into a cozy fall day with the Bodlean Library tea. Created by Riddle's Tea Shoppe and inspired by A Discovery of Witches, taste the comforting flavors of English breakfast, cream, and chamomile.

Be prepared to look good anywhere with the lipstick case. Designed beautifully by @thebitterseason, this case is perfect for keeping your favorite lipstick for touch-ups, or anything else that you need at your convenience. This item is inspired by The Whispering Dark.

This month's treasured tomes enamel pin is the ninth in the 2023 pin collection. Each month's box will include a book-styled pin featuring in-universe references to many beloved books and fandoms- all designed by @no0nedesgins! Enter the tower of Babel, and be careful of getting caught within the shadowy Hermes Society...

The September book, A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid, introduces us to Effy Sayre, a student who is brought on to design the mansion of a late author whom she admires. Little does she know, she'll meet her rival and unravel a world of secrets that could bring them all to ruin.

This signed edition features a gorgeous redesigned exclusive cover by @danlinz_arts. Turn over the cover for the reversible dust jacket with beautiful artwork by @istomin_denis and text design by @divineliterary. Beneath the dust jacket, they've included the original cover art by @c.e.illo on the hardcover case- they couldn't resist including it! Peek inside to view the beautifully exclusive end pages designed by @hachandraws and designed signature pade by @blueyboo. Finally, an author letter and bonus material from Ava Reid has been bound into the book for subscribers!

Overall, the September 2023 Box, Drown Your Secrets items fit the theme so well. I was delighted with each of the items, and the thought that was put into them regarding the theme, and inspired books to meet it. My favorite item this month was the book A Study in Drowning. I am so excited to read about the dark forces that are featured in the book. There is also a Spotify playlist, the differences between the original and exclusive cover designs, interviews, books related to the book of the month, and other excellent September releases can all be found in the themed packet.

I would definitely recommend an OwlCrate subscription to all of my book friends and readers in general. Here's the website if interested https://www.owlcrate.com October's theme is Power Has A Price, and is a story filled with magic and mayhem! In order to save her family's ranch, our protagonist finds herself entering a dangerous race, competing against the most elite riders in the city. But this is no ordinary race -- the stakes are high and danger lurks around every corner. In order to succeed, she enlists the help of an enchanter who works with a secret, illegal form of magic, and a mysterious young lord -- both with their own dark secrets that they'll do anything to protect. I hope you all enjoyed this review of the September 2023 OwlCrate box. I'm excited to read A Study in Drowning- read along 10/20-27, and use all of my themed items, some as decorations on my shelves! Happy reading :)
