One Step Ahead

This is the OwlCrate June 2024 box. This box has items in it inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Prison Healer, The Scholomance Series, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, and The Poppy Wars. These books have been added to my TBR if they weren't already there.

This is the theme card as well as the spoiler card on the back. I thought that the artwork was pretty and minimal.

Here is the next addition to the royalty drink ware collection. Throughout the year they will be including one of these mugs in the boxes. Be sure to collect them all, because as much as they look amazing on their own, they are also a stackable set.

This month's stacking mug is based on A Court of Thorns and Roses and is wonderfully designed by Lindsay Hook (@offthehookstudio) and Yeatasmin Shiropa (@the.pearledreader).

For the readers who love to tab, annotate, and take notes, this next item is a gold mine for you. The reading kit features several designed tabs, as well as designed post-its, a note pad, and a pen.

Inspired by the Scholomance series, this item was beautifully made by Gretchen Cobaugh (@lichen_and_limestone)

Traverse the seas with the delicious tea inspired by The Adventurers of Amina Al-Sirafi. This tea features Amina's Blend of Fortune, with flavors of mango and pineapple, and is made by Riddle's Tea Shoppe.

The enamel pin in the collection: Perfect Pairings. Each month's box includes a sliding pin featuring characters that pair together in the most fierce, intense, and romantic ways- all designed by Saiyre (@saiyre.art).

The 6th perfect pairing is inspired by The Poppy Wars and although Rin and Nezha are an unlikely pair and full of rivalry than romance, their dynamic is one we can't help but be intrigued by.

The June book, Of Jade and Dragons by Amber Chen, features a world of secrets, competition, and trust. The protagonist follows the trail to her father's murderer, leading her to infiltrate the male-only apprenticeship trial with the unlikely help of a prince, who may have plans of his own.

This signed edition features a gorgeous redesigned exclusive cover created by Lilitt Wang (@im.lilitt) with blue sprayed edges. Turn over the cover for the reversible dust jacket with beautiful artwork by Rita Fei (@RitzBitzFei). On the hardback, they have some striking metallic ink done bySwanna Luo (@saiyre.art). Inside you'll find gorgeous end pages done by Marci Klugiewicz (@llstarcasterll). Finally, an author letter and bonus content from Amber Chen has been bound into the book for subscribers!

Overall, the June 2024 Box, One Step Ahead items fit the theme so well. I was delighted with each of the items, and the thought that was put into them regarding the theme, and inspired books to meet it. My favorite item this month was the ACOTAR mug. There is also a Spotify playlist, the differences between the original and exclusive cover designs, interviews, books related to the book of the month, and other excellent December releases can all be found in the themed packet.

July's theme is Dark Reflections and takes us to a fairy tale world filled with darkness. We follow our protagonist who has been training with her powers and skills to defeat the presence that haunts their kingdom and destroys her family. But as she gets ready to face them, she notices her mother acting strangely and talking to herself. As she uncovers more about her past than she ever knew, she must figure out a way to save both her kingdom and her mother before it is too late.
