I recently finished reading Unloved by Peyton Corinne. This is book #2 Undone series.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT

  Rating: 4/5 stars

"Matt “Freddy” Fedderic is all smiles—at least on the surface. On the ice, he’s the star left winger for the Waterfell Wolves with a stellar reputation in bed and a potential future in the NHL. But in the classroom, he’s barely scraping by on a 2.0 GPA, retaking dropped classes and struggling with a rough mix of dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Freddy had plans to enter the NHL draft at eighteen, but then his estranged father added a “graduation” clause to his inheritance, and now, he needs help to pass Biology with a professor who’s already betrayed him before.

Ro Shariff is a hopeless romantic with terrible luck in love—and now, Freddy’s new tutor. She keeps telling herself that she’s very happy with her on again/off again boyfriend, but Ro is desperate for real affection. As her tutoring sessions with Freddy lead to friendship and late-night phone calls, an undeniable heat begins to simmer between them, which they’re both trying desperately to ignore.

Although they are too protective of their newfound friendship to cross that line, Ro can’t stop thinking about how Freddy was her first kiss her freshman year at Waterfell, a spine-tingling moment seared into Ro’s memory that Freddy doesn’t seem to remember, and Freddy is determined to protect Ro from his reputation at all costs. Meanwhile, Ro wants to prove to him that despite what others have led him to believe, he’s worth more than his body. But maybe, just maybe, together they can learn how easily the right person can love every part of you, even your flaws."

I loved Unsteady and really looked forward to the second book in the series. I am so happy and relieved to say I enjoyed it a lot as well!

I initially thought this would be a continuation of Unsteady. I wasn’t expecting this book to follow the same timeline, but I actually loved how it was like a behind-the-scenes from the crumbs we got in Unsteady. Like honestly not many authors can make the stories and characters captivating enough to have it take place in the same timelines, but Peyton did!

Now onto Ro and Matty (aka Freddy): my lovergirl and loverboy. They were so cute and I want them to be protected at all costs. The angst in their stories was so heartbreaking and I got emotional several times. I loved them both individually and even more together. Two precious, wholesome cinnamon rolls. They felt like real, mature, and emotionally intelligent people. They’re so pure. I swear! Both of them are chronic people pleasers that have so much to learn from one another. It was beautiful seeing Ro researching ways to help Matt and never judging him. And Matt helping Ro see that she deserved so much more. They uplifted each other in such a raw and beautiful way.

Rosalie is one of the sweetest FMC’s. The kind of girl that protects other girls, as it should be! We see her go through so much because she’s in a toxic relationship and let’s just say I wanted to murder Tyler. He’s the kind of “man” that doesn’t respect or care about women and it was just painful to read the stuff he would say or do to Ro. My precious girl did not deserve that!! But I liked seeing her grow and find her worth.

Matty is kind of man you want your kid to marry. The way he respects and treats women in general, but especially the way he thinks about them!!! I was on the floor! He is so sweeeeeet! And if Ro made some comment to belittle herself in any way he’d make sure to tell her her worth. Also, I loved seeing his representation with dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD, and his journey through grief. He’s had to endure so much and it’s painful but inspiring the way he journeys through his struggles. Also, he called her princess!

I also just want to mention that the found family in this book is so special and sweet. Ro, Matty, Sadie, Rhys, Liam and Oliver, Bennett, Holden, and all the Waterfell hockey team. I love them all so much! Also, I really liked seeing Sadie and Rhys again, but especially the crumbs we got from Bennett! ! I think we’re getting his book next and if it’s not with Paloma, I don’t want it! Also, I need a redemption arc for Toren this instant!!

This book had a lot of potential, and started off strong, but then it kinda just tapered off. The biggest issue for me was the whole focus on Ro’s on-and-off-again boyfriend, Tyler. The story focused a lot on the mess that was their “relationship” causing Ro and Matty to not even get together until like 70% into the story! The loser ex was just too much in this book that I got annoyed any time he appeared in a scene. Also, the lack of consequences for all the antagonists in this story made me upset, especially with how it was all building up to some big takedown. I feel like there could’ve been more justice for Ro and Matty.

But even though Ro and Matty didn’t get together until 70% into the story, they were both so wholesome and endearing. Their relationship never felt rushed or forced and I loved how they had an existing friendship built on trust and kindness. and the epilogue was so swoon worthy! I loved it so much. It was a perfect end for these two, though I do hope to see them in future books.

Overall, it’s such a beautiful story about two people building each other up while simultaneously cementing their love for one another. Who’s next in the Undone series? I am hoping that it's Bennett and I really hope Toren gets a book too.

Check out Undone, and discover what happens when you find out the truth behind the behavior.

Happy Reading :)
