This is the OwlCrate December 2024 box. This box has items in it inspired by Lord of the Rings, Raven Boys, and multiple fandom neutral items. These books have been added to my TBR if they weren't already there.

Style up your workspace with our Lord of the Rings inspired desk mat! This mat is the perfect accessory to get your productivity on. This item was beautifully designed by Jordan (@theproseandcons).

The next item is a beautiful way to commemorate all of our YA books featured in our 2024 boxes. The ornament, with a cute owl on top, is a perfect way to end this year and holiday season. Hang it on your tree, place it on your cork board, and reminisce on all the OwlCrate faves! This ornament was designed by Gretchen Cobaugh (@lichen_and_limestone).

To be prepared for the new year, stay on track with our 2025 calendar! With quotes from each of our featured YA books for their corresponding months, this is the perfect item to keep all year round! This calendar was designed by Jordan (@theproseandcons) and Cade (@heyatlascreative).

With the 2024 pin collection coming to an end, we couldn't let you go without a beautiful pin banner! Made to look like picture frames for our Perfect Pairings, this pin banner was designed by Saiyre (@saiyre.art).

This month features the twelfth and last pin in our Perfect Pairings collection! Each month’s box has included a sliding pin featuring characters that pair together in the most fierce, intense, and romantic ways - all designed by Saiyre (@saiyre.art)! Our last perfect pairing is from The Raven Boys, where Ronan and Adam chill in the forest.

The December book, What the Woods Took by Courtney Gould, is an atmospheric and thrilling story of troubled teens thrown into danger. We follow our protagonist Devin, who was abducted and taken to an experimental therapy camp. Nothing is as it seems though, and as the teens in the camp find themselves stranded, they have to fend for themselves as they try and survive the monsters in the woods - and each other.
This signed edition features a stunning redesigned cover by @jessicasroux and stenciled edges by @heyatlascreative . Turn over the cover for the reversible with gorgeous artwork by @tropicalgloom . On the hardback, we have some stunning foil designs done by @littleforestcat_ . Inside, you’ll find gorgeous end pages done by @dzeljka.art . Finally, an author letter and bonus content from Courtney Gould has been bound into the book for subscribers!

Overall, the December 2024 Box, Out of the Woods items fit the theme so well. I was delighted with each of the items, and the thought that was put into them regarding the theme, and inspired books to meet it. My favorite item this month was the book ornament- I want to have my mini Christmas tree covered in bookish ornaments in my library (one day). There is also a Spotify playlist, the differences between the original and exclusive cover designs, interviews, books related to the book of the month, and other excellent November releases can all be found in the themed packet.

January's 2025 theme is Rise Beyond Ruin and is a dark fantasy where a girl goes on a perilous journey against all odds. With her life overturned, our protagonist is forced to serve a princess with tragic circumstances.
In getting to know her, she’s faced with two roads; should she escape with the boy she loves, or should she stay and help the princess she has become drawn to? and is a gripping paranormal thriller set in a forest full of secrets, betrayal, and monsters. After thinking she was being stolen in the middle of the night, our protagonist is driven deep into the woods where she meets a small group of other “troubled teens.”
I hope you all enjoyed this review of the December 2024 OwlCrate box. I'm excited to read What the Woods Took, and am excited to use all of my themed items, some as decorations on my shelves!
Happy reading :)
